Investigation Summary

The Cage at St Osyth, Essex, is a former Tudor lock-up — now part of a private house — linked by tradition to the 1582 St Osyth witch trials, when cunning-woman Ursula Kemp and others were held before six were condemned and hanged. It has been widely publicised as one of England's most haunted small buildings, with reported apparitions, cold and an oppressive atmosphere, though many claims are media-driven and contested. Recorded by PRN as a reported/folkloric case — historical context, not proof.
