Investigation Summary
Case summary Peterhead Prison is a strong historical site with a much weaker haunting record. Officially, it was Scotland’s convict prison from 1888 until 2013, later becoming a museum and heritage attraction. The prison’s severe penal history, isolation, 1987 riot and closure have made it an obvious candidate for dark-tourism reinterpretation, and the current operator now actively markets “Ghost Hunting Behind Bars” and overnight experiences.
