Investigation Summary

Kinnitty Castle (Kinnitty, County Offaly, Ireland) has a documented medieval history from 1213 CE when the Normans established an Augustinian abbey on the site. The current Gothic Revival structure dates from 1811 (Pain Brothers architects). The castle was burned by the IRA in July 1922 during the Irish Civil War and rebuilt in 1927 with a Government grant.

It operates today as a hotel (1994 conversion). Paranormal claims include a Phantom Monk and apparitions in the Geraldine Room; the only verified media event is Most Haunted Season 5 Episode 1 filmed here in 2004.
