Investigation Summary

Highgate Cemetery, opened in 1839, is one of London's "Magnificent Seven" Victorian burial grounds, celebrated for its monuments and atmospheric West Cemetery. From 1970 it became the centre of the "Highgate Vampire" legend, a press- and television-fuelled affair driven largely by the rival claims of David Farrant and Sean Manchester, which led to a notorious 1970 "vampire hunt" and later criminal damage at the site. Recorded by PRN as a reported/folkloric case — historical context, not proof.
